Put Things Off : Free, laid-back productivity advice

this site is adorable, and the name says it all.

it reminds me of some business advice from my dad, which went something like this:  “why do today what you can leave till tomorrow and hope someone else might do for you?”

(and, by most standards, he’s a pretty successful guy, so maybe he’s on to something.  check out the article on outsourcing.)

Actually, here’s the other bits of advice I learned when I started working in the ‘real world’ at age 23:

from Bob Metcalfe-  “we have two ears and one mouth for a reason. listen twice as much as you speak.”

a variation on that is “the most powerful person in the room often speaks the least.”

from Paul Marshall- “as long as you are teaching someone else to do your job, you’ll always have a job”

also from my dad- “don’t return calls or emails too quickly.” (sounds like dating advice, huh? I don’t follow this at all.)

“always hold your cards close to your vest.”

“assume that contracts and NDAs mean nothing and are unenforceable.”

and the final one: “always sleep on any decision.”
