Who do we admire, but the iconoclasts, the rule-breakers, and the fearless?

This question came to mind today as I was reflecting on my mental loops. Not infrequently, I find myself repeating an anxious mental loop. Really, they are more like repetitive mazes than loops, I suppose, and they seem to serve no purpose. And so, this phrase broke the loop a little.

Who do we admire, but the iconoclasts, the rule-breakers, and the fearless?

When Daniel and I first got together, he said to me, “I think we should be really eccentric.” Which I found totally charming for its honesty and vulnerability.

So I said, “Sure. What do you think is eccentric?”

(I don’t remember his answer.)

Eccentricity is just low-fi iconoclasm. It’s the permissible and fun-at-the-party kind of rule-breaking. It’s just touching the boundaries of fearless. It’s a good place to start.
