There are days that I’ll do several hours of research or writing, and just not be able to get it to snap into focus, despite feeling like there are all these fascinating threads just sitting there waiting to condense.

Daniel’s response was some classic wisdom for creative process: It’s liquid until the exact temperature that makes it freeze or boil, and then, all at once, it’s something else.

Sometimes it just stays liquid, but retains that potential of freezing or boiling with just one extra degree. And sometimes we can push through and create that extra degree by our own efforts, but more often than not it’s easier and smoother to just wait for the weather to change.
